Le Rockabilly se serait implanté au Japon à la fin des années 50, alors que les troupes américaines, présentes sur le territoire, écoutaient Buddy Holly et Elvis Presley sur leurs chaines radio. Le style Rockabilly connait un regain de notoriété à la fin des années 70 avec les groupes Carol et The Cools.

Bananes à la Pompadour, perfecto, jean moulant, santiags usées par les pas de danse, tatouages fièrement arborés, les Strangers continuent de danser, chaque dimanche, dans le quartier d’Harajuku.
